A beautiful SLC home in the spring.

How to Get Your Home Ready for Spring

Spring may not always look much different from winter in Salt Lake City. However, spring is the perfect season to get your home in great shape for the rest of the year. We already associate spring with cleaning and we may as well add some simple maintenance to our lists of things to do.

Clean Your Gutters

Winter storms can cause your gutters to fill up with dirt, leaves, and other debris. Make sure that they are cleaned out, both as spring approaches and once it is over. That way, you’ll protect your home from water that can do a lot of damage if it isn’t funneled away from the foundation. If you can’t get on your roof, there are professional gutter cleaning services that can get the job done for you.

Check Your Sprinklers

Even if you’ve been using your sprinklers all winter, spring is a great time to test them. Make sure your water pressure is good, that you don’t have any leaks, and that each sprinkler head is spraying the part of the yard that it is supposed to spray. After all, no one wants to be the person watering the sidewalks! If you need help with your sprinklers, reach out to us for Salt Lake City sprinkler services.

Test Your Plumbing

Get your plumbing checked out by our expert plumbers in Salt Lake City, especially your sewer line. Your plumber can send a camera down this line to make sure that there aren’t clogs, cracks, or broken places. Since winter can bring a lot of debris that may end up in the sewer, spring is the best time to check for these problems. If you find them early, you may be able to get them fixed before there’s a major problem with your sewer line.

Change Outdoor Bulbs

Check all of your outdoor lights and change any bulbs that have gone out. Some homeowners just choose to change all of the bulbs regardless, to avoid having to do it later. However, with the advent of LED and other longer-lasting bulbs, this is probably not necessary. Still, it’s a good idea to take a look and make sure nothing has burnt out over the winter. This is especially true if you like to entertain outside in the spring and summer.
